Panera Bread, an American chain of bakery-café restaurants, reported to media outlets on April 2, 2018 that customers’ loyalty card information may have been exposed through its website and online ordering system.

The St. Louis-based company has more than 2,100 retail locations in the United States and Canada. There are six Panera Bread locations in Albuquerque and one in Santa Fe.

According to Reuters and cybersecurity blog KrebsOnSecurity, the company’s website had leaked customer records for at least eight months, including names, email and physical addresses, birthdays and the last four digits of credit card numbers who ordered food online.

In a written statement, Panera Bread officials said the problem had been fixed, and fewer than 10,000 consumers had potentially been affected. No payment card information was accessed or retrieved, according to company officials; and it was working to finalize the investigation and take next steps.

While there is no specific company contact information regarding this incident, Panera customers with questions can reach out to the company through its online customer care center.
