Nusenda Credit Union holds 88th Annual meeting

Albuquerque, N.M. – Nusenda Credit Union conducted its 88th annual meeting on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. The meeting reviewed Nusenda’s successes, growth, and community support during 2023. Highlights focused on the Credit Union’s commitment to helping its more than 260,000 members, new market growth through the Western Heritage Bank acquisition, investing in employees’ well-being, and supporting organizations doing great work in the communities we serve. Credit Union leadership shared that, according to America’s Credit Unions (the national credit union trade association) members received more than $62 million in direct savings. Additionally, the Credit Union returned more than $8.6 million in cash to members through Earn Your Return bonus dividends, Community Rewards, and Business Debit Card rewards. The Credit Union, Nusenda Foundation, and Credit Union employees also donated $1.9 million to communities and people throughout the state. During the annual meeting, Judy Cartmell, Martin Serna, and Ralph Wallace were elected to serve on Nusenda’s Board of Directors for three-year terms. 

 

Judy Cartmell is retired from the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center where she was Associate Controller. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration/Human Resources Administration from the University of New Mexico. She has served on the Board since 2004.

 

Martin Serna is retired from Central New Mexico Community College where he was Comptroller. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of New Mexico. He has served on the Board since 1991.

 

Ralph Wallace is Senior Director of Business Systems with Albuquerque Public Schools. He was previously retired from Presbyterian Healthcare Services as the Information Services Manager for Business Support Services. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology and Latin American Studies and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration/Accounting from Michigan State University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration/Technology Management from the University of Phoenix. He has served on the Board since 1997. He earned a NAFCU Certified Volunteer Expert (NCVE) in 2016.

 

Nusenda Credit Union was established in 1936 and serves communities from Taos to Las Cruces as well as locations in El Paso, Texas. Joe Christian is the President and CEO of Nusenda Credit Union.
