Nusenda Community Rewards 2025 Grant Applications Now Open

June 5, 2025 - For Immediate Release

Albuquerque, N.M. – The Nusenda Foundation recently opened applications for 2025 Community Rewards grants. This program is designed to create positive change and address important needs in the communities Nusenda Credit Union serves.

Nusenda Community Rewards grant program is focused on five areas: education, healthcare, environment and wildlife, the arts, and community service. The program is made possible through a financial partnership between Nusenda Credit Union and its members, who contribute with qualifying use of their Visa® debit cards. Members who opt into the program can direct their contributions to one of the five focus areas. The grant selection committees include a variety of employee volunteers from across the organization.

“The organizations we support through Community Rewards are creating real, lasting change in communities across our region,” said Sara Keller, Nusenda’s Chief Community Engagement Officer and Executive Director of Nusenda Foundation. “We’re proud to partner with these changemakers--and with our members--to power meaningful change. We invite eligible groups to apply and join us in building more inclusive, thriving communities.”

“Community Rewards is rooted in our belief that strong communities are built through collaboration,”said Michelle Dearholt, President and CEO of Nusenda Credit Union. “We look forward to continuing to support local organizations not only through grant giving, but as year-round partners, to create lasting impact in the places we call home."

In 2024, Nusenda Foundation awarded 72 organizations $700,000 in funds for innovative programs. Since the Foundation’s inception in 2015, it has awarded $4.93 million in Community Rewards grants to nonprofit organizations.

To qualify for a Community Rewards funding, organizations must be a 501(c)(3) certified and based in New Mexico or El Paso County, Texas. The grants are provided through a competitive application process that runs from June 1 through August 30, with awards being distributed in December.
