El Paso, TX - Nusenda Credit Union recently announced the appointment of Elsa Borrego to its Board of Directors and John Hernandez as an Advisory Member, strengthening the Credit Union’s leadership with deep expertise in human resources, financial institution operations, technology, and innovation.
Elsa fills the board seat previously held by Ramon “Ray” Renteria, who retired in 2025 and now serves as Director Emeritus. She will serve as a board member until the April 2026 Annual Meeting, when she will be eligible for election to complete the remaining two years of Renteria’s term.
Elsa is the first Nusenda board member based in El Paso, Texas, reflecting the credit union’s growing presence in the area following its expansion in 2024. As Principal Consultant and Owner of Culture First Consulting of El Paso, she brings extensive leadership experience across human resources, financial institutions, and community services. She previously served as Chief People Officer for El Pasoans Fighting Hunger, and her background in people-centered leadership will support the credit union’s continued focus on member service, employee engagement, and community impact.
Elsa earned her bachelor’s degree in business management and master’s degree in Adult Education & Training from the University of Phoenix. She is a proud graduate of Leadership El Paso Class XL and currently serves on the Board of Directors for El Paso Children’s Hospital and the Executive Forum.
John Hernandez, Nusenda’s newest Advisory Member, is the Founder and CEO of Dash2 Labs, a Generative AI solutions development company that serves a variety of partners. A former U.S. Naval Aviator, he is a Department of Defense Certified Systems Engineer and holds both Project Management Professional and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certifications. Based in Albuquerque and originally from El Paso, he brings significant expertise and understanding of the communities the credit union serves.
John has earned advanced degrees in physics, systems engineering, aeronautics, and a Master of Business Administration from the MIT Sloan School of Management. He is also the Managing Member of Dash2 Consulting, where his team delivers custom AI solutions, commercialization strategies, and systems/mechanical engineering services.
