Nusenda launches family financial wellness partnership with My First Nest Egg

Albuquerque, NM – Nusenda Credit Union announced a new partnership with My First Nest Egg, a family-first financial wellness program for children and parents. Nusenda is the first credit union in the region to launch the program, expanding its commitment to serving families with age-appropriate, complementary tools that make building healthy money habits simple. Whether at home or in the classroom, this new partnership will serve communities across New Mexico and West Texas.

Co-founded by two mothers and former attorneys, Nicolle Hood and Annie Shoen, My First Nest Egg was created to address the shortage of engaging ways to teach kids about money. The program transforms complex ideas into bite-sized activities through stories, puzzles, and psychology-backed tools designed for children ages 3-13.

“We’re so excited to partner with My First Nest Egg because it brings financial learning to kids in a way that is simple, fun, and meaningful,” said Sara Keller, Chief Community Engagement Officer at Nusenda Credit Union. “Our roots are in education, so we know how important it is to teach healthy money habits early, and this partnership helps us give families practical tools they can use to talk about saving, spending, giving, and investing. That’s what building brighter financial futures is all about!”

Nusenda and My First Nest Egg have launched a fully co-hosted version of the platform, allowing for family-friendly chore and allowance tools, real-world goal setting, and classroom-ready lessons that help teachers and parents bring money conversations to life. English and Spanish versions of the site are available.

“At My First Nest Egg, our mission is to make financial education part of everyday life – on the fridge, in classrooms, and at the kitchen table,” said Nicolle Hood, Co-Founder & CEO of My First Nest Egg. “Nusenda’s educator roots and The Power of WE ethos shine through in this partnership. Together, we’re giving families simple, joyful ways to build healthy money habits that last.”

This partnership builds on Nusenda’s long-standing commitment to financial literacy. From no-cost Balance and Banzai resources, to classroom grants, summer school support, educator-focused financial tools, dual‑credit coursework, internships, and peer‑to‑peer education, Nusenda provides families and educators with a wide network of complementary programs. The Financial Education Innovation Award Program further strengthens this work by supporting creative, community‑driven approaches to financial capability.
