Albuquerque, N.M. – The Nusenda Foundation recently opened applications for the 2023 Community Rewards grant program. This program is designed to create positive change and address important needs across New Mexico.
Nusenda Community Rewards grant-giving is focused on five areas: education, healthcare, environment and wildlife, the arts, and community service. The program is made possible through a financial partnership between Nusenda Credit Union and its members, who contribute with qualifying use of their Visa® debit cards. Members who opt into the program can direct their contributions to one of the five focus areas.
Grant requests are reviewed and awarded by employee volunteers. Selection committees include a variety of employees from across the organization, ranging from in-branch tellers to senior leaders.
“The community partners that receive support through Community Rewards are responsible for transformative work in the communities we serve,” said Sara Keller, Nusenda’s Vice President of Community Engagement and Executive Director of Nusenda Foundation. “We are excited to collaborate and power positive change to help this become a place where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
In 2022, Nusenda Foundation awarded 97 organizations $630,000 in funds for 104 innovative programs.
To qualify for a Community Rewards funding, organizations must be a 501C3. The grants are provided through a competitive application process that opened June 5, with awards being distributed in December. The application deadline is Aug. 5, 2023.
