Nusenda Credit Union holds 87th Annual Meeting

 

Albuquerque, N.M. – Nusenda Credit Union conducted its 87th annual meeting on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. The meeting reviewed Nusenda’s successes, growth, and community support during 2022. Highlights focused on the Credit Union’s commitment to helping its more than 250,000 members, investing in employees’ well-being, and supporting community programs doing great work across New Mexico. Credit Union leadership shared that, according to Credit Union National Association, members received more than $29 million in financial benefits. Additionally, the Credit Union returned more than $7.8 million in cash to members through Earn Your Return bonus dividends, Community Rewards, and Business Debit Card rewards. The Credit Union, Nusenda Foundation, and Credit Union employees also donated $1.8 million to communities and people throughout the state. During the annual meeting, Ann Brooks, Leigh Anne Chavez, and John Landis were elected to serve on Nusenda’s Board of Directors for three-year terms.

 

Ann Brooks is a Senior Lecturer at Wake Forest University, School of Business. Previously she was Principal Lecturer at the University of New Mexico, Anderson School of Management and was a part-time instructor at Central New Mexico Community College for 20 years. She has been on the Board since 2007 and prior to that served on the Supervisory Committee beginning in 2002 to 2014. She has a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Accounting from the University of New Mexico.

 

Leigh Anne Chavez is a Recycled Metals Prosecutor with the State of New Mexico, Regulation & Licensing Department. She is a Certified Fraud Examiner and Anti-Money Laundering Specialist. She holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of California Los Angeles, a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and a Master’s Degree in Accounting from the University of New Mexico. She has served on the Nusenda Board since 1994, and also serves on the Nusenda Foundation Board of Directors.

 

John Landis is retired from Stryker Orthopedics where he was Senior Team Member and Inventory Analyst. He has the Board since 2015 and served on the Supervisory Committee from 2004 to 2018. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in business administration from the University of New Mexico.

 

Nusenda Credit Union was established in 1936 and serves New Mexicans and their communities from Taos to Las Cruces. Joe Christian is the President and CEO of Nusenda Credit Union.
