Strengthen your security by adding a Trusted Contact Person
A Trusted Contact Person is someone you can authorize us to contact if we cannot get in touch with you directly. They can give you even more protection from fraud by providing our team with someone to alert in case of suspicious activity such as identity theft, scams, or other illicit activity. Your Trusted Contact Person can help verify contact information, validate a new guardian, trustee, or Power of Attorney, perform a wellness check, or answer non-confidential inquiries about your account. This additional layer of protection can help safeguard against identity theft, fraud, scams, and other illicit activity while providing an additional communication resource during critical situations, giving you greater peace of mind.
We will reach out to Trusted Contact Persons in scenarios such as:
- We have a reasonable belief that the member is being exploited
- A member is not responding to phone calls or other attempts at contact
- We do not have valid contact information for the member
- The member has not responded to attempts at contact, perhaps due to travel or hospitalization
What Trusted Contact Persons cannot do:
- They cannot receive any control over the member’s account. They will have no access to account details, cannot conduct transactions, and will not be informed of the confidential specifics of the situation.
- They have no legal authority to act on the member’s behalf or manage their accounts.
A Trusted Contact Person may be added to your new or existing account by giving us a call or by visiting your local branch. Up to two people 18 years of age or older may be added as Trusted Contact Persons, and they should only be people who you believe are well-positioned to understand your current circumstances and act in your best interest. They should not be someone already on the account or with Power of Attorney. Trusted Contact Persons can be removed at any time.
