Founded in 1951, The Nature Conservancy has grown to become one of the most effective and wide-reaching environmental organizations in the world. With a million members and more than 400 scientists, its mission is to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. The Nature Conservancy is celebrating 40 years in the Land of Enchantment, and its Urban Conservation Program is working to bring nature back to the city with a focus on replenishing aging tree canopies in Albuquerque, particularly where heat is negatively affecting residents' way of life.
