Fraudulent Emails and Counterfeit Cashier’s Checks to UNM Students

We have received reports that there is an email scam targeting UNM students. The fraudulent email presents as if it is coming from someone at the University of New Mexico, stating that they are recruiting for jobs, offering recipients the opportunity to make up to $400 weekly. The email contains a link to www.store-surveys.com. Upon registering for the site, a counterfeit cashier's check is provided with instructions for the recipient to cash it at their financial institution and to go to multiple Wal-Mart stores and purchase gift cards. Cashing a cashier's check like this is an indicator of fraud.

Please do not provide any personal or account information or attempt to cash these cashier’s checks.

To report an online crime, go to www.ic3.gov. Remember, Nusenda will NEVER contact members for account numbers, credit card numbers, CVV number, PIN numbers, or any other private information.
