Nusenda Credit Union employees throughout New Mexico devoted today's federal holiday to support the communities of Albuquerque, Espanola, Las Cruces, Rio Rancho, Santa Fe, Socorro, Taos, and Valencia County. Over 350 Nusenda employees participated, volunteering over 1,400 hours.
"Nusenda has always been committed to making a positive difference in the lives of the communities we serve," said Nusenda President and CEO Joe Christian. "Community Day is one of the many ways our employees put their passion for service into action."
Nusenda's Community Day focus this year was all about taking care of New Mexico's outdoors through environmental and wildlife projects across the state. Employees volunteered across the state with 12 partner organizations:
• Albuquerque BioPark
• ARCA
• Big Brothers Big Sisters, Taos
• Dona Ana County Humane Society and The City of Las Cruces
• Locker 505
• Los Padillas Elementary
• NM Volunteers for the Outdoors
• NM Wildlife Center
• Railyard Park Conservancy
• Santa Fe Watershed Association
• Save Our Bosque
• Watermelon Ranch
"Each year, our partnership with Nusenda to support our educators and students has grown," said Lawren Romero McConnell, Grants Manager for the Albuquerque Public Schools Education Foundation. "We are grateful for the Nusenda volunteers' work on the Los Padillas Wildlife Sanctuary for experiential learning. This innovative initiative supports the APS Education Foundation and the APS Outdoor Learning Team and gives all district third graders and hundreds of their teachers access to our rich natural environment in Albuquerque."
Nusenda community impact programs support organizations and people all across New Mexico. The credit union provides employees with 16 paid volunteer hours each year, making it easy for team members to help meet critical needs in the communities they serve. In addition to volunteerism, Nusenda also contributes millions in financial support by way of sponsorships, grant funding from the Nusenda Foundation, education and financial capability programs, and much more.
